My client operates internationally in all aspects of transport infrastructure maintenance. As part of the global organisation, the company is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network.
Role:
Responsible for ensuring the planning and delivery of site Operations within their remit, ensuring works are completed as per relevant specification(s), safety standards, customer requirements and in accordance with the Quality and Safety systems, along with responsibility for the financial performance of the contracts. Managing and developing customer relationships and contributing to Tenders / Tender team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage the Human Resources within your Team, liaising with the various support functions, e.g HR and Safety etc.
· To program and schedule works to maximise the efficiency of allocate recourses.
· To ensure preparation of relevant Construction Stage Health and Safety Plans from preliminary Health and Safety Plans provided by client.
· To carry our regular inspections/audits on Temporary Traffic Management.
· To liaise with Operations Managers / Supervisors / Foremen and ensure proper record keeping for all aspects of various projects including:
• Quantities of materials used on daily basis.
• Plant & Equipment Utilised
• Labour on site
• Weather records
• Safety audits, toolbox talks, task briefings, SSWPs
• Variations to work requirements.
• Any directions issued by local authority/client
• Post Construction surface dressing record.
· To ensure the monitoring of the quality of Surface Dressing works to ensure compliance with the “Institute of Asphalt Technology Guidelines for Surface Dressing in Ireland 3rd Edition”.
· The ensure coordination of testing and sampling of emulsions and aggregates in accordance with CE Marking and EN 12271 Surface Dressing Requirements and EN 12273 Slurry Surfacing Requirements.
· To ensure that all Raw Materials are ordered from approval suppliers only and Identify Potential Suppliers.
· To ensure only Approved Contractors are appointed to perform Sub-contracts operations.
· Planning, Forecasting and scheduling of works. Managing the financial performance of contracts, proactive cost management, promptly submitting invoicing / valuations. Timely completion of monthly accounts including WIP and Accruals.
· To be aware of all work in progress and maintain a degree of control.
· Nurture existing customer relationships and develop and grow new customer relationships.
· Develop technical expertise in relation to company products and services.
Managerial Responsibilities:
· Direct, manage and lead contracting operations across the Republic of Ireland Safety of all employees (and our contractors) is our number one priority.
· Grow market share in terms of revenue, tonnage and products.
· Develop internal and external capability to deliver road maintenance services across the Island of Ireland including people, plant, equipment, facilities, contracting skills and external partners Measure performance in the areas of productivity, quality, health & safety, costs, revenue and asset management.
· Develop and implement programmes to improve production efficiency.
· Develop capability to contribute tenders in a timely and efficient manner.
· Ensure Environmental procedures e.g.: recycling, waste minimizations are adhered to and improvements made where possible.
· Promote and foster a positive employee relation’s atmosphere within the organisation.
· This position is required to demonstrate Leadership and Management competencies by:
• Providing clear directions and definite priorities.
• Developing operations expertise.
Skills/Competencies:
· Qualifications: level 8 degree in Civil/Constructional or equivalent degree/ industry recognised safety-training to the relevant standards.
· Experience: Should have up to 3 years prior leadership experience, preferably in a road surfacing or contracting environment.
· Knowledge: Contracting, estimating, project management, health & safety, and outsourcing, Plant & Equipment and Traffic Management knowledge
· Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to various stakeholders.
· Problem-Solving Ability: Analytical skills to identify and assist in resolving technical challenges effectively.
· Attention to Detail: Skilful in maintaining accurate documentation and records in compliance with industry standards and compiling reports.
· Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contributing to project goals without direct management responsibilities.
· Proactive Attitude: Shows enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies and industry developments.
